Economic Development Officer (EDO)

The Economic Development Officer responds to the needs of the Gordon First Nation through initiatives designed to increase the level of employment in the home community of Gordon First Nation and promotes access and use of programs in the urban areas to increase employment. The Economic Development Officer assists other program within the community to develop policy and strategic plans. The EDO promotes awareness of economic and employment opportunities monthly in the newsletter and at Band Meetings. The EDO is expected to develop criteria for evaluating projects for business and community development.

The EDO networks and promotes and markets the George Gordon First Nation as an attractive place to invest.

GGFN Retail Centre

The current Chief & Council is committed to expanding the operations, sales and revenues of the Gordon Retail Centre. In the spring/summer of 2013, construction on the new retail centre will commence. This new building will increase the merchandise selection options for store patrons, thus increasing revenues.

In the goal to expand the operations, sales and revenues of the Gordon Retail Centre, it has become desirous of Chief & Council that urban lands be purchased; whereby additional GGFN Retail stores may then be opened for business.

In 2011 - 2012, the GGFN Retail Centre grossed approximately $3.4 million in retail sales.
