George Gordon Day Care

License

The Gordon Daycare is licensed by Touchwood Agency Tribal Council Licensing Board Incorporation. Gordon Daycare is funded for 21 child care seats. On a yearly basis, the Gordon Daycare must complete an Environmental Health Inspection, compliance /fire and furnace inspection. Daycare is monitored by the TATC Child Care Monitor – Sheila Kinequon.

The Gordon Daycare operates efficiently, in accordance with the philosophy, policies and objectives established by the George Gordon First Nation, the George Gordon Child Care Committee and within the specifications of the Touchwood Agency Tribal Council Child Care Regulations and Policies.

Philosophy

Gordon Daycare offers a service to parents that are accessible and affordable. We are committed to providing quality child care. We are trained child care professionals who emphasize early learning while working with children. We are friendly, organized, confidential and always open to suggestions.

Gordon Daycare is a child care facility where parents can always feel confident about the care given to their children. The centre promotes a safe and healthy environment where children can explore the centre.

Gordon Daycare provides a number of activities for the children to participate in. Children should always be excited to come back to the daycare because they feel cared for and are treated with respect.

Gordon Daycare Goals

  • To promote a healthy nutritious program
  • To encourage multi-culture and language
  • Promote emotional, spiritual, physical, mental, social and intellectual development of the children
  • Children learn skills necessary in day to day living
  • Recognize each child’s individual needs

Hours of Operation

Monday - Friday 8:15 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.

Child Care Service Fees

The fee for child care is $15.00 per day for the 1st child in the family and $5.00 for every child thereafter. Payment of fees are due before service of child care begins with no exceptions. Payments are non-refundable.

Daily Programming

There are a number of activities for the children to foster growth in emotional, social, spiritual, mental, physical and intellectual development. A healthy nutritious program is planned and prepared to meet the nutritional needs of the children as stated in the Canada Food Guide and the Canada Native Food Guide.

Admission to Daycare

Admission forms can be picked up at the Gordon Daycare Centre. Forms must be completed and updated on a yearly basis. The forms to complete are:

  • Agreement for Child Care;
  • Child Medical certificate – signed by your doctor;
  • Take home authorization form;
  • Child’s Health and emergency information card;
  • Social resume – applicable to child’s age group (infant/toddler or preschool/school age);
    Child’s Health Resume;
  • General Excursion and transportation consent;
  • Child Immunization status report – signed by the CHN.

What’s New in 2016?

  • The Daycare will be receiving gross motor equipment from TATC, funding through a CDC grant delivered from our TATC Child Care Monitor Sheila Kinequon.
  • Open House on August 24, 2016.
  • Santa Day for the daycare children sometime in December before the holidays.

Alternate Workers:
Alternate Workers/Casual workers are called to work when needed. The following qualifications are required: First Aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling, W.H.M.I.S, yearly Staff Medical, yearly C.P.I.C., and an updated Immunization (Hep B, Tetanus, Flu Shot, TB test).

If anyone is interested in working as an Alternate worker, please submit a resume, along with copies of certificates, CPIC form are available at the Punnichy RCMP and the Staff Medical forms can be picked up at the George Gordon Daycare. All copies of resumes, certificates and forms are submitted to the George Gordon Child Care Committee for approval on a monthly basis.
